“The Grandma Tonya and Stepashka. Suzdal” (The Portrait of Antonina Makarova (Grandma Tonya), oil, canvas, 28×20”, 2019. It painted using the author’s technique «GlossStyle».
The portrait of Antonina Petrovna Makarova, among the common people – Tony’s grandmother. Grandmother Tonya lived in the beautiful Russian city of Suzdal and selling small felt boots, most of her life was engaged in charity work – selflessly helping disadvantaged children.
The main business of her life is caring for children left without parents. Orphanages all over Russia fell under her care. She was known and loved not only in her hometown of Suzdal, but also far beyond the borders of Russia, and her little magic felt boots are still kept by thousands of people throughout Russia. Her phrase: “If you care not only about yourself, then you have not come to this earth in vain,” – in the best possible way, reflects her attitude to life and love for people. The portrait was made by my unique technique “GlossStyle” (Patent No. 2716885), which allows, by increasing the refractive and reflective ability of the paint layer, to achieve additional volume and the effect of shimmering depth.
